Free Entry to The Charles Dickens Museum

The Charles Dickens Museum in central London is a celebration of one of the greatest novelists in British history. The museum exhibits over 100,000 items from personal items to artwork and manuscripts from some of his books.

Found at 48 Doughty Street, the former home of Dickens from 1837 to 1839. It is said that he wrote 2 of his most famous stories whilst living here, Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby. The building is the writer’s only surviving London house and visitors can get an insight to what life in the household would have been like.

Permanent exhibitions include portraits of the man, manuscripts of his work, personal items and letters. 

The Museum also has a café, perfect for a cup of tea and slice of cake after a wander round these famous quarters.

Note: All visits by groups of 10 people or more must be booked in advance. Groups that have not booked may be refused entry.
